David Michael Letterman /ˈdeɪvɪd ˈmaɪkəl ˈlɛtɚmæn/, né le 12 avril 1947 à Indianapolis (Indiana), est un animateur, humoriste et producteur de télévision américain. L'humour ironique et souvent absurde de Letterman fut fortement influencé par Steve Allen, Ernie Kovacs et Johnny Carson. De 1982 à 1993 il est l'animateur du Late Night with David Letterman sur NBC puis, pendant 22 ans, jusqu'à sa retraite en 2015, du Late Show sur CBS.
